With Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 only a few hours away, I’ve devised a plan to endure the tiresome, hour long queue ’til we finally get our hands on a packaged version of -250 hours of your life.

As well as the energy drinks and sugar-coated shit myself, and peers, will poison our bodies with, we shall be accompanied by our most trusty companion; our DS’s and a handful of a games.

Here’s the plan:

Wario. You just watch him pwn.

Mario Kart DS

Where else would the night be kicked off other than a classic game of Mario Kart DS. Despite only housing four players at a time, Mario Kart evokes the competitive streak in everyone and will get you hyped for Modern Warfare 2.

Time prediction: Probably a few races before people are calling for the next game, so make sure you win the first couple for bragging rights for the rest of the evening. 15 minutes is my estimate.

Advance Wars: Dark Conflict

Works best in a 2 on 2 game and works brilliantly when both teams actually care about the outcome. A truly composed and well thought out win on Advance Wars never fails to give me a solid erection for a good couple of hours.

Time prediction: you most likely won’t start a game. There will be such a debate around who’s on which teams and how long it takes to set up that you’ll end up not bothering…but at least the thought was there. 2-4 minutes.

Bomberman 2

A superb time filler when you have a bigger group. Allowing 2-8 players, Bomberman guarantees frenzied battles and killer final duels every time. So get your ass in gear and start practicing your Bomberman skills now. Remember, speed kills, that’s all you need.

Time prediction: If you and your friends really get in the mood fro Bomberman, you could easily spend the entire wait trying to beat each other over and over. 15-60 minutes.

Pokemon D&P/Platinum/HG&SS

Whether you’re a pro that likes to apply all the official rules or you’re a complete noob that thinks your Butterfree might stand a chance in the modern game, there is no-one that doesn’t enjoy a sweet sweet battle on Pokemon. So, head to your PC’s, in game of course, and withdraw your best fighters for a fully fledged war.

Time prediction: This entirely depends on how good you think you are, and how good your opponents are. Only a tactically perfect match will produce the longest of matches, however, there is always a possibility of a raping. 5-20 minutes.

Half turret; half man; half beast.

Metroid Prime Hunters

The grand finale had to come from an FPS and what better way to play the genre. Samus and co. make for an all out brawl where hand speed, reflexes and tactical awareness all come into play. For optimal performance, rest you DS against something. I’ve found that if you’re sat down with your knees bent you can comfortably support your DS with your legs.

Time prefiction: Depending on whether your really stoked on playing a shooter or not, Metroid play times will vary. If you cannot wait to get MW2 so much that you just want to play an FPS then you could potentially play this all night. On the other hand, if you fancy a slower paced game you may not play it for very long. 5-60 mins.
